Sue started working with owner Bev Watson in 1997, when Bev owned and operated The Willard Street Inn, a local legend known for its hospitality and charm. Sue managed the elegant B&B for years, and during that time, the Grand Isle Lake House property became available through a partnership with the Preservation Trust of Vermont.
Sue and Bev worked as a team to establish the property, choosing the name, decorating, selecting the quilts and carpet.

After running her own business, Trillium Interiors, while continuing to help with events, Sue got married at the Grand Isle Lake House in 2003, and less than a year later she closed her shop to raise her twins. In 2006, she was asked to join the team full time as the dedicated wedding coordinator. Fortunately for us, she jumped at the chance!
Because Sue has been working with other members of the Grand Isle Lake House team for almost 20 years, there is a sense of teamwork and family that makes every event even more special.
“Our team of professionals has one goal – that every detail of every wedding is taken care of seamlessly, so that our brides and grooms enjoy every minute of their day without a worry or care in the world. We have all worked together for so long that there is never a concern that each of our weddings will be anything less than perfect. My favorite aspect of my job is getting to know our couples, and their families, and friends. We work closely together to create the ideal wedding, which is different from couple to couple. All we want is for people to have the best wedding. Our super friendly and accommodating staff will kind of do anything to make that happen.”
